With the opening of the 20-room La Quinta Hotel during the Christmas season of 1926, the outside world would soon take notice of our expansive property. Today the 796-room resort, nestled at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, is internationally acclaimed for its championship golf, tennis, Spa and Private Membership.

From 1988 to 1994, The Citrus Club operated out of a temporary facility located behind the 9th green. During construction some trees had to be removed, but many of the original remained adding to this idyllic setting that was carved out in the open with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Although the mountains were not part of the strategy of play, Pete Dye brilliantly incorporated the stunning mountain views as a backdrop for his design, resulting in a course that is both pleasing and playable to golfers of all skill levels.

Of the courses connected to La Quinta Resort & Club, the Citrus was the first purely Private Golf Course with home-sites on both sides of the fairway and located off of Resort property. In 1994, the splendid new Members-only Private Clubhouse opened!
